Meet John

 John T. Fuller is a universally respected New Orleans attorney with over 24 years of legal experience, known for handling complex, high-stakes criminal cases. Throughout his career, he has handled thousands of cases across Orleans Parish and throughout Louisiana, giving him a well-rounded and practical understanding of the criminal justice system.


John has spent his entire legal career serving the people of New Orleans, building deep roots in the community and a firsthand understanding of the city’s courts.


He earned his Juris Doctor from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law and holds a Bachelor of Science from Jackson State University, where he built the academic foundation for a career dedicated to the law and public service.


John began his legal career at the Orleans Parish Public Defender’s Office, where he developed strong courtroom advocacy skills and a deep respect for fairness and due process. This experience helped shape his approach to justice—one that is both firm and fair. He later founded John T. Fuller & Associates, where he built a reputation as a skilled, effective, and highly competent trial attorney with a deep understanding of the law and proven ability to apply it in the courtroom. Through his practice, he has also mentored and trained young attorneys, helping to strengthen the legal community in New Orleans.

In recognition of his experience and professionalism, John was appointed by the Louisiana Supreme Court to serve as a Judge in Orleans Parish Criminal District Court— demonstrating the trust placed in him by the state’s highest court. Unfortunately, he could not accept the appointment.


John believes in being tough AND humane. He will hold individuals accountable for their actions while helping them chart a better path. As a defense attorney, many of his clients went on to have successful businesses or further their education.


He wants people who come into court under extremely stressful circumstances to understand the process, and know what to expect. 

The justice system must work for everyone involved — including victims, defendants, jurors, law enforcement, and attorneys. One of his top ideas is to have a trial week like other parishes do, instead of trial day. This would prevent cases from being reset for a much later date. As a judge, John will also help guide new attorneys so that our best and brightest stay in practice.


John is a devoted father and an active member of New Zion Baptist Church. Guided by faith and principle, he believes in treating every individual with dignity while upholding the law with integrity.
